A home wedding with style saw its rise to popularity in the wake of COVID-19. Defined the “micro wedding”, many folks opted for intimate events for their nuptials verse large productions with hundreds of guests. Intimacy and meaningful moments won over more for more’s sake, however, this did not make these weddings any less stunning as couples had more flexibility with their decor budgets as their guest counts remained low.
At Duia and Jean, we fully embraced this era in weddings, hosting a few of our most personal events in this style, well after crowds were allowed to come together again. My dear sister and her long-time partner decided to host their wedding in their own home in the Garden District in New Orleans. Their restored Victorian home was the perfect setting for their colorful summer wedding. My sister, Samantha, wanted nothing more than to have a beautiful day, with our closest friends and family. Her request when designing her day was that she wanted loads of color, pinks, oranges, and yellow being her favorites and she wanted Coral Charm Peonies throughout all her designs. I’m happy to say that we had the most wonderful shipment of peonies for her weddings, and these paired with garden roses, tulips, ranunculus, and many more textured delicate blooms make this one of my favorite palettes of all time!
Additionally, we could not have been blessed with a more fabulous team of vendors to help us bring it all together. These stunning images by my own wedding photographer, Gabby Chapin Photography, made this day truly timeless.
